1999 V70T5M ME7 Ignition sequence

Post by abscate »

I was stuck in the car during a thunderstorm so I document the correct sequence of light-ups on keying on my 1999

Engine was not started during these tests.

POS 1 turns on SRS light for 5 seconds.

If you go direct to POS 2, all lights come on, then ABS burps after 2 seconds and goes out
5 seconds later SRS and ETS light go out.

I have to check, but I think the 98' is a little different, I am not sure about the ABS burp.

Also, on mine the "service light" doesn't come on :o

The cruise light on the 99 never comes on in the key sequence. There is no way to test bulb function short of pulling the bulb from the dash. Maybe you can in VIDA

I believe you can turn it on in VIDA. I know the ABS light will blink while VIDA is accessing the ABS controller as well. We should check tomorrow :)

Will have a 1999 Denso V70 in for service this week. Let's see if it mirrors that setup.

But did you drag and drop those photos onto the text box?

Just kidding, Steve :-). This is actually something I've never seen here, and it's very useful.

Interesting . If you start the car normally, the ETS and ABS go out on engine start, the SRS 5 seconds later. That ABS has me a bit puzzled.

Adding the immobiliser function to this thread

I had a key cut with chip that failed to take. It starts the car, which then stalls after 2 seconds. On subsequent attempts, it only cranks, but does not fire. Once the key is removed, and wait a few seconds, it will repeat the

crank - start- die in 2 seconds -crank/no-start condition.

I tried to get a key cut for my 2000 V70 and the guy said that the key code on the old chip was scrambled and his software couldn't read it. We ended up digging out the old chip and inserting it in the new key.
