I have searched high and low on the topic (found 146 hits), maybe I am dense and didn’t understand what I was reading.
I am in need of step by step instruction on how to remove the center console on a 2009 S60. This is different than my 2003 V70 which is what I seem to keep coming across which where I start with the pen holder removal to access hidden fasteners. The 2009 S60 shifter area runs right up to the climate control area, there isn't a small area to access screws. I don’t understand how it comes apart without breaking some hidden and assumingly expensive parts. And I am a little confused with the parking brake boot and console reomoval.
The reason I need to remove the center console is I was trying to insert my typical AUX cord into the AUX socket, which it didn’t seem to fit. It felt as if something was already in the socket. So I managed to push the AUX socket plug through the lower plastic bin into never never land. Now I just have a hole. If I could get the back plate off the center console in way of the 12 volt plug, that would work also.
As an aside, does anyone know if the AUX socket accepts a standard male stereo aux cord or is the AUX socket designed for a special Volvo plug / adaptor that I must use?
Some history; I brought this S60 for my daughter for college and beyond. I was shocked to find it has an AUX socket, which is sort of hidden. Now I just need to figure out how it works.
Thanks for your patience and guidance,
Erik

Try this ,
I pulled my V70 console last week, its like rubics cube.
Brake boot was done by using a small screwdriver blade on the plastic base, pry the back edge straight up. pull the base with boot over the top of the handle, mine was stuck but came off with some pushing and pulling.

Thanks jonesg; however, the youtube link supports the earlier style center consoles where there is a pen holder which is removed first to access the fasteners. The 2009 S60 doesn't have the pen holder, the top of the center console by the gear shifter meets the bottom of the climate control and switch row assembly. Hence, somewhere there has to be some hidden fasteners.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Searched Volvo Center Console Removal and got about 100 different hits.... Many to choose from!
Try this one then! Not a Pen Holder... Not a Waterfall... Just right!!!
The hardest part of this whole thing is not loosing those 2 screws. Dropped dozens of them despite magnetic tips!!
Ciao!

By golly that gets me started in the right direction!
I know there are two screws in the bottom of the center storage area below the armrest. This will provide me access to any of the screws below the shifter plate.
Thanks Botbasher!
