Thank you all for your Help / support on my question.....

An update on this so far ,on the weekend we did a small trip with this car (200km) and half way to our destination I had the error 'low oil pressure ' came up on the display ,I pulled over at a filling station put engine off ,checked all / oil and every thing seemed to be fine ,started the engine again and the error was gone and up to today the error has not been displayed again ,But 1 day later after we had arrived at our destination when I started the car again the 'SRS airbag service ' error displayed on the dash , and since then today it is still there ......
this morning when I started the car the instrument cluster came On and then died and has been dead ever since ...

ha..ha.. ha..
any more suggestions .....perhaps time to sell this baby ...BUT I also just had the gearbox repaired 1 month ago ...

HELP ???

02=VIDA, right?

But I'm with Jones.... You'll need to read out the codes with VIDA/DICE to start to decipher the issues your experiencing.

The SRS and other errors can be caused by a DIM (Cluster) going bad. Mine is currently doing the same thing. DIM errors, text scrolling, SRS won't reset... its annoying

Then yours failed completely, so we can presume those were the lead up to the eventual failure. You may even have other issues with modules on the other side of the DIM, like the SRS, AUM (Radio), DDM & PDM (Doors) and the UEM (in the mirror which controls things like remotes, sunroof and immobilizer bits!!) until you get the DIM functioning properly.

Here you can see what is behind what in the lines... The cluster is the DIM...

I remember you mention that you don't have a lot of tools. Do you have a VIDA/DICE to read codes? Did the shop you had your gearbox worked on have it?

DIMs can be expensive to replace, but reworks are possible ($99 on eBay ... $499 with XeModeX both with lifetime) if you don't have local options and cloning can be done in your garage with the assistance of fellow forum guru Yagger... if you have a DICE unit and a laptop.

There are options for your situation, but without the ability to see what's going on we have limited ability to advise.

I just bought a laptop w/ Vadis loaded and ordered a DICE interface from Amazon, you really need this tool to make sense of the volvo.

The guy might have one left,

If not, ask here and I know there are other sellers on swedespeed.

Also, post your location, someone might live very close by. Even if you're in Sweden.!

Just to clarify.... VIDA. VADIS is for 1999MY and earlier... VIDA is for 2000-2017 (according to the latest gossip). You bought a VIDA loaded laptop. Big... You need VIDA for the MY you put in the OP.

+1 on the location. We're a pretty friendly bunch and are happy to help a fellow Swede junkie!! That's how I started... Fellow local Volvo nut cleared my codes and got me oriented a few days after I bought Sven.

We'll help you love the Volvo again!!

PS.... You can get the Dells on eBay for about $70 and the interface for $80-100 depending on your shopping prowess. That seller isn't supplying the DICE (OBD Connector) for that price. That adds another $100... Still a deal compared to a dealer trip, but a bit of shopping can save some serious cash!!

Hmmmmmm 8) I travel coach and don't need more than a sofa and some great cuisine!!!!

I would plan on getting a VIDA/DICE combo for the long term as you appear to have more than one Volvo. It really is a life saver, even if you only hand it to your mechanic! First time fix rates get much higher!

If you need help locating and shipping things, let me know directly and I'll help out best I can. International shipping is nothing new for me as my parent and sister companies are Italian, German, Canadian and New Zealander. We can figure something out!

I saw those but they don't have the software installed and configured.
After seeing the trouble people get into trying to get it set up I would rather pay extra and get it done for me.

They don't... but it didn't hiccup once for me in 2 different installs on this same machine type (2 different units but exactly the same model Dell Inspiron 6400 ) and two people I suggested it to have not had any issues either.

I read all the horror stories about installing VIDA on computers, but in 3 different desktops (1 home Win7 64 bit and 2 work Win7/64 & Win8) and 3 laptops (2 Dell 6400s and one Gateway something), they have all installed perfectly and except for the Gateway which drove me batty because it was really too slow to start with, they all worked perfectly.

I have no idea why some have issues and I had none, but I'll take it. Maybe I should start selling them? 8)

Cheers!
