97 850 Different Front axles for standard?

Hi guys
I'm on eEuroparts right now and looking at this https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/73794/ ... e-A807802/

It specifically says it's for an automatic transmission. But when I was doing my manual swap, the old axle from my automatic fit right in. Can anyone confirm that they are the same for both transmissions? I'd rather not wait 15 days for the IPD one to ship. Thanks!

From factory, manual axles are THICKER than automatically axles. HOWEVER, you can use auto axles in manual cars or vice versa.

You might want to order an automatic axle seal as well if the manual axles are thicker in diameter. It's easier to change both at once than have to go back and remove the axle again to change out the seal if a leak starts. I still need to replace one of my seals.

So the automatic and manual axle seals are the same? They look slightly different in pictures (the manual one actually looks thicker). Sorry, I was just adding a thought since it seemed to make sense.

Nevermind, just checked out that link, makes sense now. I thought you meant the whole shaft was a different diameter, not just the axle itself.

I have used the same axles in automatic, manual turbo, 10 valve and 20 valve cars, there are differences in the shaft diameter but the two ends and support bearing are the same as is the seal facing- I suspect that if not already all the 'new' axles are the same, built to the lowest price pont
