2013 S60R intermittent engine hesitation

Post by rnelson1020 »

About 92,000 miles on car. Intermittently, when attempting to accelerate from a full stop, such as needing to move quickly into a lane of fast traffic from a stop sign, the engine will just not respond to pressing on accelerator pedal. Car may move forward a few feet (often just enough to move into a lane of approaching traffic) and then stops for a few seconds before rapidly accelerating determined by the amount of accelerator pedal deflection. I have also noticed that engine responds in a jerky fashion when driving at slow speeds in traffic as when accelerating and braking repeatedly. I always use premium fuel. My thoughts have run from throttle position sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, etc. Any ideas?

Spark, air and fuel... those are the things an engine requires. Stage 0 items are mostly concerned with these three. Do any of those stand out to you as items your S60 might suffer from?

If I had to guess, I'd guess air... clogged filter? Next would be fuel... fuel filter, etc.
