1998 Volvo V90 How do I remove center console to access gearshift

Post by dwhite66 »

What's the trick and procedure to getting the center console out in a 1998 Volvo V90? Neither of the service manuals I have actually show an usable information that would allow me to figure it out for myself. I bought this one over a year ago from an owner who had it serviced at a shop in Sedona, AZ after the water pump failed, and I think he couldn't pay for the repairs, and they couldn't get it to start and run since then. It seemed like a good idea at the time, you know what I mean, i.e, to buy it kinda cheap. It's such a nice looking wagon. I discovered several parts were missing at first, that I hadn't taken note of before. I think the mechanics may have damaged the neutral start switch when they didn't know that it needed battery power to get the transmission out of park. It seems like there's no ignition spark. So The objective is to replace the neutral start gearshift switch which requires pulling out the console.

The timing belt cover had been altered so the timing marks were missing, therefore, after replacing it I checked the cam timing. I corrected that but now still don't have a start. I have replaced all of the plugs with new ones and have checked everything else that I know about, I think. Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
