It's about that time to start doing the timing belt. Wondering if there are any reliable mechanics out there willing to help out.

Where in CT are you? I'm in Trumbull.
I've done the job, but did not enjoy doing it, I'm obviously not a pro.

What is your mileage?
I changed the water pump and it looked perfect coming out, we had about 150K miles
and I'd probably wait one more timing belt change to do it - on the other hand you
might want to play it safe.

You need a "shorty" Torx bit that I had trouble finding then saw it hanging at our local NAPA:

First timing belt job (98 S70), 4hrs...

Second, (00 V70), 2.5hrs... (spent 40 minutes on the intake cam that kept slipping around...)

Pretty straightforward job.

I'll try to help you for an afternoon if you're interested.

One more tip is to find the crank timing mark on the balancer and mark
it somehow so that it is more visible, perhaps a dab of white paint. Ours
was very difficult to see.
