2011 C70 - replacing my low pressure switch?

Post by sclark0711 »

The a/c on my 2011 C70 quit cooling. I noticed the compressor was not coming on. This morning, I crawled under it to see if it was an issue with the compressor clutch gap, it was not. I did get the compressor to kick on by putting a jump wire in the socket that connects to the low pressure switch near the firewall. When running, the low side freon pressure is 40 psi. If I replace the low pressure switch should this address my problem, or is it more complex than this simple fix? Does the low pressure switch just close its contacts when the low side pressure is above a certain pressure? As long as I know I have freon, is there a problem with driving it with the jump wire in place until the replacement part arrives?

Thank you for all of your help.
