I forgot to close this thread. It was a shame after so much work that I didn't resurrect this transmission. Superhernan (Miguel) was kind enough to donate a used drum all the way from USA for me however with the gap of time upon re-assembly I may have missed the order of re-assembly; who knows.

After re-assembly I had normal N and P operation however the car had lost 2nd gear. I sourced another transmission from a 2002 XC70 that worked well.

I still have the new loom, B4 cover and valve body.

Hi precopster. As you might see I am pretty new to this great Forum and have a 2001 V70 with a 2-3 shift flare - unusual I know - but was wondering how much of a problem you have getting hold of the various items required for the solenoid or VB repairs without having to pay a fortune or wait too long for parts delivery?
Here in WA the options to get stuff locally, especially if trying to get bodywork/components etc from wreckers is pretty limited.
I know eBay is a great source for transmission parts, but the overseas suppliers in general seem to charge an arm and leg for delivery.
Cheers

http://www.sonnax.com/distributors - 4 shops sell Sonnax VBs. You can't go wrong with Sonnax.

I was using CT Powertrain's eBay shop for the Transgo kit and valve body gaskets. As well as Sonnax for valve bodies there is Reamman. Other genuine suppliers I use are FCP Euro (they send everything with UPS at subsidised rates which is usually a 6 day delivery). IPD is another but their postage to Oz is pricey) I often price things at Tasca Parts then compare.

Try the B4 servo cover first for the 2-3 flare but make sure the piston behind the cover isn't binding in the bore.

Not a lot of choice here in Oz. There IS a local supplier of reasonable parts for these Swedes called Sandwood Trading (Daniel or Grant) but transmission parts are not their bag.

Here in Oz we pay the postage fees and sit tight. They are about 40% higher from the USA than about 4 years ago. I recall getting a 4 kilo box (maximum) sent for US$25. Now it runs to over $40 for the same weight. Conversion is now 1.35 to Australian.

Hey Pre..... Where are you buying your parts from when you can't find them on eBay and the like?

I have a National Transmission number that I can't locate anywhere. I tried their site and it refers me to their "distributors" of which none of them sell retail that I can determine.

Am I just going to have to break down and go to a shop and have them order it for me and pay the mark up??

Any hints here?

CT Powertrain. I don't mess with transmissions any more as all my vehicles run OK.
