I own a S60 T5 MY2005 fitted with a HU-850 and factory satnav. And I have encountered a bit of weird radio/CD skipping error lately. I have searched this forum and other Volvo related forums, but have not found a possible solution. Only a faint hint from a Polish guy with broken English and picture of a dismantled HU-850 unit.
During operation of the CD player, regardless of using burned CD's or store-bought CD's, the CD will either skip to a random track or play the same song at half the volume as before the trigger events occurs. The trigger event can either be activation of the parking sensor or with a RDS/Traffic Alert message cutting into operation/play. In normal conditions this will return to the CD and song, and continue to play as nothing has happend. But in my case, the CD will do the skip or play at half volume when returning.
You can clearly see it in the display of the radio when the skipping occurs. For example the radio is playing track 5, when the trigger event occurs, as soon as the it returns to the radio, the radio suddenly jumps to a random track, for example track 11, and starts playing that song. It *IS* pretty annoying when you cruise down the road with you favorite jam on, and the radio starts to pull this skipping on you
So the only solution that seems to fit my scenario (that I could find), is this single picture of a dismantled radio with a point to single large IC chip. From the broken English I guess that the HU-850 (and the HU-650) for that matter, tends to have bad connections after years of operation. The solution is to carefully re-solder the connections, but I have not tried that yet.
Do you guys have any idea, other than buying a second hand unit?
