1996 850 turbo intermittent radiator/coolant light

Hi folks - I'm new to the site and this is my first post. This is also my first Volvo.
1996 850 Turbo sedan, bought it 2 1/2 yr ago w/ 139k miles, now at 162k. It's a good runner and I like it a lot, but you probably figured that already.

Anyway, when I start the car from cold, the radiator/coolant light sometimes comes on. It will be on for a few seconds and then go out. Starting from a warm engine, no radiator/coolant light.

Any ideas?

Obviously, check to see if it is above the min level. Topping it off might fix it. If it is not low, it might be a bad sensor. Do you park on a steep slope?

Topping off works. It's really sensitive that way.
