Check the rear rotor size, you may well find they are the same. Finding parts for the earlier rear brakes are usually easier than the later ones. Sorry to see the end of a good car I know you put a lot of time into. It sucks.
I liked the 98 V70XC we had, and was my son's first car. He loved that car and now drives our 06 XC70. Just had him drive my 2000 V70 NA SE so I could try to figure out where the annoying rear door/upholstery squeaking was coming from. He commented when we return he had forgotten how nice the P80 was to drive.
Always good when you can find a good lower mileage car with hopefully fewer bodges to run. Good luck!
Neil.

Shiloh,
The rear seats on the SE have booster seats, IIRC. You might want to swap them out if the interior is the same color.
Yes, you do want the newer calipers from the '00'.
How about the radio?

How fast were you going when you hit the deer? Looks more like you hit a moose. I nailed a deer at 55mph in a Subaru forester, and all it cost me was a new fender, headlight, grill piece, and some dents in the hood.
'98 S70 T5M - 323,000mi - awaiting heart transplant

only took one to do the damage
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I've had my front fascia off a couple times and have noted it doesn't look particularly strong to resist damage to the cooler pancake--I was specifically thinking a deer hit centered higher on the grille would likely disable the car. And the slope of the front end isn't such that it would bounce up and over the top of the vehicle like what happened when I hit one with a 80s-something Taurus some years ago. It didn't do much damage to the Taurus - sort of dented the front 16 inches of the hood and blew a headlamp bulb. It bounced up in the air and I went under it - not touching the car anywhere else. The car was still perfectly drivable. Headlamps on the Taurus were disgusting awful - I think I saw it with about 1 second to react so I would have been going about 55-60.WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑04 Jul 2017, 15:36 How fast were you going when you hit the deer? Yes I actually use the factory booster seats with my son, he loves them because he doesn't have to in the regular booster seat. The 2000 V70XC /se had the 3rd row seating as well. Everything is same color...interior and exterior. The SE variant of the XC came w/more wood grain (steering wheel, shift knob).

I was doing 70mph & couldn't possibly stop so I drove through the family of deer as they ran into the hwy from the median. I actually stepped on the throttle to plow through, it worked I guess because I'm still here. Anyway the radiator, intercooler and condensor are all crushed. Fan is crushed along w/headlights, turbo plumbing, oil dip stick, oil cooler lines, atf cooler lines, ect..mrbrian200 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2017, 22:35I've had my front fascia off a couple times and have noted it doesn't look particularly strong to resist damage to the cooler pancake--I was specifically thinking a deer hit centered higher on the grille would likely disable the car. I got a '98 w/literally 100, 421 miles on odo. It's it really good shape considering year, it did need new a/c compressor, accumulator, headlight reflectors wore away so I'm replacing them and one rim was bent but I just happened to have a matching rim from a '98 V70XC I had a few yearsback.
