S60R Michelin Super Sports wearing badly on inside fronts

Hello all,

We have a 2012 S60R with 235-40-18 Super Sport tires. They have been wearing badly on the inside edges of the fronts. I saw this at the end of last summer and dialed in more toe-in to move the wear out farther and rotated the tires this spring. The rears that are now on the front had even wear but now being on the front have worn badly. I dialed in more toe-in but with no results. So I've trashed the set .

Does anyone have similar experience with front tire wear? How did you resolve it?

I run the same Michelin Super Sports on my '07 saab and the wear is very even. I know they are 300 tread-wear tires so I don't expect a very long life but they would have lasted much longer with even wear.

Is the wear "angled" or is it like a "scuffing". Are the blocks worn progressively toward the shoulder, or at the outside front of the inner row of blocks, lessening toward the rear inner of the inner blocks.

Are you sure it is not a camber-related wear issue?

Thank you for the reply. The tires had the inner row of tread worn to cords.

To close this thread I'll report that I changes both control arms that had soft rear bushings and loose, but no play, ball joints. I think the alignment was changing badly on hard cornering because of the softened rubber in the control arm bushings. these bushings are the same as found on a ford fusion (printed on the bushings are FoMoCo with the fusion related part number original on the volvo) I replaced them with Febi control arms and bushings.

Next step is to use the old bushings and cast urethane a nice bearing. This should not be a big deal to do. I'll have a nice stainless tubing to be screwed to the control arm stub for the bearing to rotate about. Oh, and a grease fitting too!
