What to pull from 1995 850 n/a before scrapping?

Post by yair »

I am scrapping our 1995 850 n/a.
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=81522&p=441200&hili ... 50#p441200
Sad to see a nice car go to the JY, but I couldn't get a decent offer and ended up scrapping it for car2go credit.

We are keeping the 855T, and I am thinking of getting some small items out of the n/a before scrapping it.
What do you think will be worth the time/space to pull out?

I will need keep it in a drivable state to get it to the recyclets.
thanks, Yair

Does the A/C work and does it hold a charge?

The a/c stopped working 2 years ago, and I didn't try to charge it. Do you think there are a/c parts that are worth the trouble of dismantling?

Grab the MAF for sure, it swaps right into your 855. Car runs fine without it as far as getting it to the destination. Oxygen sensors the same if you want to go to the trouble of harvesting them.

Any interior bits broken on the 855? Front seats are really easy to swap if that would make sense. Dipstick, radio, dash switches, front corner lights. Does the 855 need brake parts, are you up to swapping them?

I thought about swapping the headlights, the 854 lights looks better.
Interior on both cars is good, so I won't bother with it. I thought about all the hvac sensors, maybe I can get enough good sensors to make it work :-)
Do you think it's worth it take off the rear spoiler?

 the spoiler is definitely worth it. Should be easy to sell and make money.
Btw: it's a shame you are wrecking it, it looks really clean

On the headlights you can get the lenses very easily, just remove the clips, or swap the whole units.

Spoiler might sell on eBay if you wait it out, but I'm not sure there is much of a market for them. People will usually want them color matched, yours is not among the most common colors. Worth a try!

Hazard light is an easy harvest and about $50+ if you have to buy it new. Sun visors, cigarette lighter, seat heater switches, tailgate/ trunk struts, interior plastic pillar trim, roof rack to name a few.

You easily recover the tow cost harvesting parts that will make it non driveable.
