Should i trade in the P2 XC70 for P3 XC70?
I've owned 5 Volvo vehicles in my life so far, we fell in love with our 1996 Silver Volvo 850GLT w/Platinum model wheels. Then after that we purchased a '98 V70XC & 2004 XC70 w/factory xenon lighting package. After I lost the '98 V70XC I found a beautiful 2000 Navy Blue V70XC /SE that I loved but recently the front end was wrecked after hitting deer on the hwy doing 75mph. I found another Navy Blue '98 V70XC w/only 100,201 miles on the odometer and that's my work vehicle. Any way my wife's '04 XC70 is still a beautiful vehicle w/211,000 miles on the odometer. She loves this vehicle but I was thinking of getting her a new vehicle, I think the P3 XC70 is beautiful and so does my wife. I was looking for opions, experiences and suggestions from P3 owners. Should i be looking a the T6 model w/6 cylinder motor or the 2.5L model? Any information will be helpful.

The 2.5L was phased out for the P3 series.
My indie Volvo mechanic says that they are as robust as any P2 and with a better engine that is chain driven. They are a very good looking package with some detail improvements and floating centre console. The AWD system is also a next generation setup.

TY for your response. We really like the V70XC/XC70 and I like the XC60 but it doesn't really have that wagon look of the V70 with the Cross Country package.precopster wrote: ↑04 Aug 2017, 23:26 The 2.5L was phased out for the P3 series.

we have a p2 ('05 xc70) and a p3 ('08 xc70). before that a p80 ('00 v70xc). as stated above, the p3 has a new motor platform. unfortunately, the beloved 5 cylinder is gone.
our p3 has the 3.2. as you will hear, the motor is a bit of a dog. if you like the acceleration of your p2, you will disappointed with the 3.2. i don't really care, i'm not a lead foot. my wife is and doesn't like our p3, so i'm driving it.
the fit and finish is nice. i don't think you will disappointed with that. is it better than your '04...probably just more modern.
at 211k miles, your probably due to start thinking about a replacement. we have 170k on our '05. our '00 went 225k and threw a timing belt which grenaded the top end. that was after it had burned a valve and i had the head off fixing that...but i digress. i loved that 5 cylinder motor.
if it were me, i'd be looking at replacing the '04. i'd look for the latest you can afford. and if you like the acceleration of your p2, get the t6.

5 cyl's came back in 2015 with a 2.5T T5 higher pressure, 250 HP and a wonderful engine
Short run until the V90s came out.
Personally I would not buy a 3.2 6 until at least the 2011s when they were seriously revamped for more power and much better lower end driving.
2008 2010 I would not buhy, the 2011s have a lot of upgrades besides the engines.
The T6 is a lovely running, fast engine but they do cost more (used).
