I lost my key a few months ago. Couldn't find it to save my life. Searched everywhere I could think for 7 or 8 days before I finally threw in the towel. Called the local dealership. They were able to get me a new key cut based on the VIN# and my insurance card as proof of ownership on a 21 year old car. I literally picked the key up 36 hours later. I didnt realize how worn out my old key was until I used the new one. Then a few days later I flew back to my island for grad school. Once I got to my home away from home I emptied my back pack onto a table. The old keys I had lost fell out onto the table. I searched that bag a dozen times.....

With five cars and 7 drivers I have

- three keys for every car
- Main key in one bin
- Back up key in second bin
- The master ring with every car key on one ring.

I must have $2000 in car keys....jeesh..

Fit a XeModex remanufactured ETM after original gave up the ghost at 213k miles.

- Changed the oil on my cousin's 07 C70, used an FCP kit. No hiccups. But man, if you aren't careful, you can totally screw the oil filter housing on crooked and strip the threads on it. Found a hairline crack on his expansion tank! Oh boy, do these cars keep on giving! :)

- Flushed our power steering fluid. Used 3/4 of a bottle of Castrol High Mileage Transmission Fluid. Hope it fixes the random stiff steering issue we've been getting. Otherwise we're going to have to fit in a new pump in there. Surprised how black the transmission fluid got. I put in some Lucas in there and some Peak ATF fluid in there over two years ago.

After a 5 hour alternator install yesterday, no work today other than testing voltage. Car is running alright and no obvious voltage issues so far, but this new to me alternator is LOUD! I'd like to track down a rebuild kit for my old one.

Self-tapping screws in the door pull, and I drilled out the end of the crack that was developing. It's been POP-POPing for more than a year now.

I still have that instinctive flinch when I pull the door past halfway, expecting the first POP, but now it just opens and closes without drama. I don't know why I waited this long. It'll take some time to get used to opening the door as wide as I want.

Reminds me of my old 300zx. The last owner had a huge nail as the door catch that made a really awful pop when the door got past 1/3 of the way opened.
