So I plan on digging into the head gasket next weekend with the project car. Is it worth picking up some n/a cams while I have everything torn apart or should I just leave well enough alone? I'm leaning towards leaving it as is, but if the consensus is the n/a cam swap is worthwhile I'll take that option. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I do not. I have read a few things on volvospeed about it, but looking to see if anyone has some "real world" experience with the swap.

RSPI? I seem to recall him running them in his wagon. (along with intake and throttle body) I remember 4 degrees retarded for one of the cams. That's a spec for your tuner though.
I know he has a video for it, and he is in the middle of posting on an S70 in progress at his favorite Chicago parts providers.

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

He has a few videos on it. In fact, he just posted one today or yesterday. I would ask him, because I know he's done it a few times.FLXC90 wrote: 07 Aug 2017, 10:47 RSPI? And while we have this thread going, does anyone know anything about N/A cams in a GLT? Just curious, because I've heard that it won't work from some people, and others say they will.

Since the GLT uses a 2.4 liter motor, isn't it just the normal n/a motor with a low pressure turbo? I would assume it may already have the n/a cams. Not 100% on this though.

I think ardideas.com lists timing retard for the na cams in the ecu tune section
1996 855 R,
black on black, M56 swapped, Quaife, TME 2.5 exhaust, 17 inch Volants
2010 V70 D5,

I'm asking for duration, lobe center, and lift.
Duration is sometimes spec'ed from open to close and others from slightly cracked at each end.
I used to know the timings for quite a few Alfa Romeo cams off the top of my head.

No, the GLT engine is the same as the T5 minus the pistons, which makes it a 2.4 and raises the compression ratio from 8.5:1 to 9:1. Although I'm not 100% sure the difference between the turbo and the N/A blocks, or the difference between the heads and cams on the GLT vs. T5. I really wish we had all this information easily available in one place...shaker_chi wrote: 07 Aug 2017, 13:07 Since the GLT uses a 2.4 liter motor, isn't it just the normal n/a motor with a low pressure turbo? Some people see gain with n/a cams in their T5 engine, some people sees loss.
Personally, if you can't tune (able to change fuel/spark in the ECU) your car, I would leave it stock.
