96 850T engine wiring

I have been chasing a fan that won't run problem on a new to me car someone else put a motor in. (Thanks to Ozark Lee for a previous post on the fan relay and what each wire is for.) the big red lead that comes out to a white wire at the starter was not connected and I thought it was solved at that point but now it isn't working again and a volt/ohm meter tells me all is good but the black wire that should be zero ohms to ground is open(failure was intermittent during some of my tests) . Given that someone swapped the engine I figure I'll put it up on the lift and poke around. Maybe there is some more wiring that isn't connected. It is also throwing a knock sensor 1 code instantly after clearing i so maybe that isn't plugged up either.
Anyone know where the big black ground plug to the radiator fan terminates?

The big black ground wire exits the harness right next to where the dipstick tube enters the front of the block and terminates there where it is bolted to the engine block with a 12mm bolt. It was loose, hence intermittent ground that made diagnosis difficult. Also found the knock sensor plug for the hard to get to one (pass side) plugged in to the EGR under the intake. Now to re-install the fan I shouldn't have pulled......

Hopefully that was your car's issue. The PO is not and will not be the only one to miss connecting a wire or 2 on an engine swap!
