V70 1998 Diesel Turbo - Hose Diagram?

Post by manovlov »

Hy everyone,

I've recently worked on my car. I've forgotten to fix strongly one of the hose which goes from the turbo to the air box. Got an air entrance which seems to have putted the engine in fail soft .

My wife took the car and done 500 meters, 250 driving, 250 pushing, with the help of my first son (13 yeards old) and my second son (8 years old - who want. to, by the way, having is drive licence... !).

I fixed up the hose and tried to start 5 times. But immediately after few seconds with pain, the engine stopped.

Here are my questions :

May the fail soft mode turn off by itself after a number of hours (calculator) ?
My someone has the complete picture or diagram of which hoses (small ones) are plugged on the engine ?

I've succeeded in changing the accessories belt by my own, the fronts breaks, I wouldn't't spend money ti go to the garage for a diag...

I do thank you, anyway, so much to have pended time to read my post.

Best regards.

Bonjour,

I'm not familiar with the diesel models. I don't think these cars have fail-safe modes (I could be wrong). Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery for a while maybe?

Is there good fuel pressure?

Bonne chance

Sounds like you need a vac diagram of the turbo on your diesel. @Abscate - Any ideas? I know you seem to have or know of a collection :)

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Hy wizechatmgr,

To be the most helpful possible, I need to explain that I have opened and move a part le airbag cover to have enough room for changing the upper mount (the one between the engine). There are severals small white hoses which have been disconnected. I have no issue with diesel fluides.

It's sounds has the turbo has too much air and I do imagine that the calculator must be lost ...

I will try to disconnect the battery tomorrow morning for 24 hours. Anyway, if I succeed in having the process to reconnect correctly all the 2 whites hoses, the 2 black ones (one has a red mark, the other has a blue mark), it would be a good beginning.

I post a picture of the hoses which are disconnected on my engine, hope it will be helpful.
Thanks anyway for helping me.

1 to T joint and from there to vacuum reservoir under left wing.
2 to hole in intake hose after MAF.
3 to PTC valve where crankcase ventilation joins to intake hose before turbo.
4 to wastegate on turocharger.
unnumbered arrow points to EGR, hose from there goes to third nipple of N75 valve on left side on your picture (yellow straw).
BTW hose from oil trap must go to nipple on aluminum elbow (grind-ed place on your picture), not to ribbed plastic intake hose, your turbo will not work fully. Nipple on elbow is often broken, easy to make new one from 6mm screw if you have a lathe.

MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor (box on top of air filter), at big hose that goes to turbine in place about 100mm from MAF is small hole where plastic straw (your nr2) is connected.
PTC valve - small plastic piece that connects hose from crankcase ventilation to big intake air hose before turbine, has electrical connector with 2 pins and small nipple where your number 3 hose goes.
