What is this bracket that fell of my car?

Post by baxtex »

So last week I replaced my right wheelbearing and CV joint boots at the right front wheel and all went fine. Been driving for a week without any problem. Today though when my wife drove to work, I found this bracket on the driveway. It's nothing that I have seen before, any idea what it is? Maybe something on the exhaust?

I think I found it, could be this bracket for the exhaust:

A little bit, but it has been like that since i bought it. Scanned the car underneath but haven't found any hole so I just ignored it. Thanks though, now I know what that bracket is! :D

The two pipes are rounded with one fitting inside the other, there is no gasket,
all you need is that clamp.

Oh, though there would be some mounting paste or something at least.

When you order the replacements be aware that the part number is for quantity one even though it takes two to make it work. The part number is not for the set.

The Pro Parts version includes both halves with captive nuts and the bolts included.

The other half was actually still on tha car so i bolted it back together with some new 16mm bolts. Weird thing is that it's now much louder then before...

Will take a look tomorrow and see if I can spot any other hole or something. :S

Edit: Oh yeah, took the bracket of and sure enough, there are alot of rusty small holes when I cleaned it up. Will buy some tape and fix it up. :D
