Sunroof,courtesy lights,vanity are not working

Post by Spiridon »

Hello, I just bought my 2002 Volvo XC70 136000 miles, but I have some troubles with it,
1. The remote keyless system is not working I replace the battery but doesn't solve the problem, when I lock the vehicle with key all doors locks and unloks
2. Sunroof don't work at all, I did open the cover for UEM everything is connected and brand new, no burn marks It looks like that no power goes there at all
3. Venity, courtesy lights are off all the time, the back view mirror is electronic also not working, ALL fuses are good, when I remove the fuse for alarm this lights start working unill the next start of the engine! Some module cuts the power.
4. I did open very gentle alarm siren and my multimeter show 7.88V, which I assume the back up battery is OK!
5. When I lock the car with the key all blinkers flash.
I think that all of this is connected somehow to the security system of the car ( central locking or alarm if self

Please if anyone can lead me to some solution, i will appreciate a lot
Otherwise the car is running fine and everything else is ok
Thank you :)

ImageTo get UEM to work and therefore map lights, mirror and sunroof you need to get remote to work.

The UEM usually requires a wake-up of three close/open sequences from the remote to begin to work as UEM is also receiver of remote fob radio frequency.

You can try battery disconnects/reconnects and they probably won't work. You really need a working remote as these P2s have a UEM which often goes to an off state unless triggered by remote.

If you can find a used UEM and matching remote from wrecker or from a car being parted out (especially one you can see working). this will solve the problem. The transponder with start codes is contained within the key which on 2002s is contained within the keyhead so you don't need a new key at all.
