The new transmission has had the axle seals replaced, filter replaced, and generally cleaned.

The "new" tranmission is a 01K... serial number and thus has a suspect B4 Servo cover. Luckily, I had installed the updated cover on the old transmission, so it's a matter of swapping this.

From this point, the new transmission is prepped and ready to go back in. I have reversed all of the previously posted steps.

Using low pressure air, flush all fluid possible from the transmission cooler.

Using gravity and low pressure air, flush the transmission cooler hoses.

Remove and replace the inline transmission filter (I had put one into the trans cooler supply line)

New fluids all around (coolant, ATF and oil)

New filters (air and oil)

Installed new silicone hoses to turbo control valve as these looked quite aged.

Rotated tires.

All buttoned up and the car is running great, started with no codes at all. Reset the trans fluid counter via VIDA. Shifts beautifully with no flares. Will take it in for a front end alignment (since this was disassembled to the point of not being on the car anymore) this coming weekend and do a drive cycle/adaptation reset and cross my fingers that this little Swedish wagon runs great for the next 150,000 miles.

Well documented. This is definitely the go-to resource for anyone contemplating the same repair.

Thank you. I'm no professional mechanic, but this is certainly possible in a garage setting with hand tools, patience and a beer fridge.
