Where to find crossbar parts - 2000 V70XC

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone knows where (if at all) I can get new parts for my original cross bars. The main rubber strip on the top is really nasty, and most of my rubber "gaskets" where the bars clamp on to the side rails are either lost or falling apart. You can see where I've had to resort to duct tape to prevent sliding...

There was a post within the last year about using generic rubber strips for the main bar, have you seen that one? Seemed not too bad, better than the mushed up, destroyed appearance (or complete absence of strip) that is typical at this age.

Unfortunately, looks like Volvo no longer stock the parts. As they were mostly Thule, maybe a Thule dealer or even a rack supplier may have a suitable alternate that would work for you.

Can't really see the issue in the first picture. Is the rubber coating damaged? If you have no luck, I may have a spare set I can let go in a little while. Waiting to access a private seller parting out a V70XC that has a really nice condition set. Naturally I will keep those if they are better than the ones I have. One set is the longer ones with an overhang, and the other are similar to your picture.

@Neil: The rubber strips rot and turn to mush, and/or just completely fall off. I have one set like that. The other set is in great shape, probably garaged before I got ahold of them (they are full time on my V70 now).

I have a pair of these that I just liberated from a '98 V70XC. The rubber strips have rotted but the rubber bits where they attach to the roof rails I believe are in good condition. PM me if interested.

Hank on Cape Cod sells a lot of roof racks and might have parts like this too.
