Re: 2002 V70 XC turbo, no codes but running poorly, clean ETB?
I usually pick them up at auction, try to fix them and sell them to make extra $$. I think I'm up to 14 now and the best most reliable has been the 240's. Iv'e got a 92 with over 250K and all I do is put gas and oil in it. But.... I've had a couple that were just lemons it seems, always little quirks that I could not totally get rid of but I've never lost money on one yet, knock on wood.

I picked up the new crank shaft position sensor and when I went to remove the old one it was very loose. I removed it, took the wide copper washer off the old one and removed the rubber O ring on the new one, slid the washer on and then the O ring and installed it. I'm not sure but is the threaded post that tightens the sensor down purposely set to not allow it to tighten past a certain depth? The threads on the post and nut did not show any signs that it was stripped but again got to a certain depth and stopped. Hooked up Vida cleared the codes, the same 3 showed up after the install. I took it for a quick spin and did not get the "reduced engine performance" yet but the real test will be tomorrow when my wife drives it to work on the highway. Fingers crossed and up next will be the tranny flush.

Well, my wife is still getting the error code, "reduced engine performance". I'll check codes again tonight. ugh.

Still getting 5200 code for RPM sensor. Am I missing something? ordered the crankshaft position sensor bracket thinking that since my threaded post is stripped that perhaps this is interfering with my signal. I can't tighten or remove the crankshaft sensor bolt. Will install part, erase codes and post back. ugh.

You are in uncharted waters, Captain. I don't recall a recent thread fighting this code on a P2 but will look back

So I received the new crankshaft position sensor bracket yesterday and replaced it. The old one was split into two pieces and the threaded post had broken off on the bottom side and thus when I tried loosening or tightening it the post would just turn. Installed both new parts and I'm still in the same position. I'm getting the same "reduced engine performance" error and when I read the codes the, after erasing them, the code 5200 RPM sensor-signal too low shows up as a yellow ECM, meaning the DTC is found not active. I'm now also seeing, once so far but did not come back, 641A-exhaust camshaft control-slow regulation, also a DTC yellow, found not active.
I did notice that as soon as I turned key into position 2, with all accessories off and connected to Vida that my battery voltage immediately read 11.8V. however, once started it resumes to it's normal voltage. Might this be part of my problem?

I doubt you have a battery problem. If the charging system produces enough voltage with engine running and car continues to start well you don't have electrical charging issues.
What perplexes me about your issue is that you've chased down the demon that the codes point to (coil pack and crank sensor) and still continue to have the issue. Might be time to purchase a ECM removal tool and clean all the contacts on the computer and receiver connector. Short of this producing a result I would look at fitting a used ECM. This is possible with the help of a couple of gurus here on MVS namely Yagger or Doublebug that can use your Dice over the internet to clone the key transponder codes and ECM firmware to a used ECM.
First thing though is to clean that ECM with contact cleaner by CRC or a similar product.

I can do that. Do I really need that tool? I replaced the ECM on a 2000 S70 & 2001 V70 Turbo without it, same procedure?

Yes the pink sliders, if you have already worked it out it's the same setup. Hopefully this works for you.

so, I re-read the codes and erased them again and it's not thrown that error message in two days........not holding my breath but it's encouraging. Replacing the siren module after work today.
