At least, I'm looking.
My wife, otoh, fell in love with a 2018 XC60 which would - at best - have 1-2" of clearance on each side when pulling into the garage. I'm not sure that all of the safety/parking-assist features would be enough to counterbalance two drivers whose depth perception leaves a little to be desired.
We're looking because we recently lost a '96 850 GLT wagon (second elder trustworthy car in 4 years to be rear-ended to the point of being totaled). So, I'd been thinking that something 10 +/- years younger would be "new" enough, especially when the 850 had 300k+ on the odometer when it left us.
I've been looking for something in the <110k miles range, but was our getting such high miles on the 850 a fluke and I should be looking for lower mileage (and is there such thing as too low of mileage)? Around here, a low-mileage premium combined with the low availability of these cars puts the price well over KBB (or is that not a good reference?)
The XC's of the 2004-6 vintage and V's of 2005-8 have been what caught my eye, or am I restricting myself unnecessarily? I've seen some with low-ish mileage and a yard-long preventative service record, but they've been on the older end of the range (2004, -5) and the higher end of the prices.
At the moment I'm taking the this-would-be-my-daily-driver approach... which is perfectly sound since I had a '92 Jetta (RIP) as my daily until 2013 (and strongly considered getting another of that vintage to replace it).
Any persuasive arguments or sound advice (hopefully not mutually exclusive) is appreciated.
Looking for V70/XC70 of the 2004-7 vintage

All this applies to any car.
Any machine is only as good as the maintenance it receives.
Ridiculously low mileage can point to extremely short trips and many occurrences of condensation / atmospheric water not being burnt off. This hastens exhaust system failure and fouls engine oil.
There's a guy near me selling a 2008 in stellar shape. I'll PM you. Kira

If the price range is too much of a stretch, I'd try looking possibly to another brand... Because you may be tempted to buy the cheapest one and end with a car that will need constant attention. If you go the 200K miles route, then it's a gambling. Suspension, PCV and AWD parts already need attention by 100K miles. I think the AWD haldex was improved only after 2006 or 2007. So perhaps the best bet would be a 2007+ one for the AWD and even then keep in mind there may be costly issues even on 2006+ models.

I am looking to possibly sell my wife's 2004 XC70. It's silver with black interior, has navigation option and is in very good condition. The service that has been done is as follows: It has 145k miles approximately on it.
Timing belt and waterpump at 119k
Tires and alignment last March
new pcv system (including hoses, pipes under intake, intake manifold gasket, throttlebody thoroughly cleaned and new gasket, new air hose from air cleaner to turbo, new spark plugs, air filter, oil always changed with synthetic 5/30 mobil 1 at 3000 miles, new fuel injectors and brakes. The car looks great and drives great. We're just needing something a little larger.
Let me know if interested
