96 850R cranks but won't start
Hey all, Tried starting on a normal day to no avail. Cranks like it wants to start but sounds like its just not getting any fuel. After checking, I'm not getting any pressure at the fuel rail at all. Yes, I have gas in there, about a half tank haha. Besides pulling injectors to maybe see if they are clogged? Is there another way to find out what part's failed? I'm thinking fat chance all 5 injectors got clogged at once
and there isn't any fuel leakage along the whole set of lines from the tank to the rail. I'm guessing that I might also need a volt meter or ohm meter to figure out what part isn't getting power, which I will get asap, I'm just not sure where the fuel pump relay is or what else I can test? I would really like to not have to replace the pump right now but, I'm guessing it's pretty old and probably time to since after looking at the top of it seems like none of the owners have changed it out yet. I just got done replacing the last of the coolant system plumbing too
Thought I'd be able to do the next part of my project as planned haha.

If you can get someone to turn the ignition key, then open the fuel filler cap and listen when they turn the key and you should hear a hum from the pump for a few seconds. If not, then the pump or relay is bad. Just check the fuses too just in case.
Relay is in the fuse box just to the left of the left windshield wiper. Open the hood and you will see a rectangular black box beside the LH hood hinge. There is 2 parts to it. The front section houses the regular fuses and they can be accessed by a flip top in the front half of it. The part at the rear can only be accessed by removing 4 x T25 Torx screws and lifting the whole cover of the box. In there there is a (normally) red relay with the number 104 on the top (if I remember correctly).
You will need to check here in MVS but you can jumper the relay contacts with something like a paper clip to see if the pump runs and the car should run when started as normal. It is not wise to leave the jumper in for long, but it will hel pidentify if the pump or relay is faulty. Normally the relay fails first.

Thanks guys! Turns out it was the pump! It looks like it was the original one from '96 too! After having to run over to harbor freight for an oil filter wrench, I swapped in the new one and it started right up after priming it! Finally back on the road feels nice
next up: new Calipers, rotors and pads for the rear!
