05 XC90 2.5T AWD driver window issue

I am looking at this vehicle as a possible newer vehicle. One of the issues the owner declared was that when you try to close the drivers window you have to hold the button for a few seconds after closing or it drops down again. What could cause this weird behaviour as I have never seen it before?

Did an online search here and found this thread and a possible fix. Looks like the window looses the window limits and needs to be reset.

Think it's the hall sensor (to prevent some kid sticking his neck out and getting choked to death by the window) that loses where the upper limit of the window is supposed to be. When the window hits the top and wants to continue moving, sensor detect kicks in and sends the window back down. Had it happen 4 times over the last 12 years on my cars randomly, the fuse trick noted in the post does the job every time (dealer even did the fuse thing once after VIDA would not do the reset).

Oddly enough, my wife mentioned something about the passenger window not working properly late last week, exact same issue and was resolved as noted above (takes a whole 2 minutes). While I was in the car, went ahead and did a reset of the driver's side as well, just to know both are the same.

The reset worked for me as well. However, the issue returns regularly. Resetting will help but the real issue is the sensor itself that got tired.

Good to know. I do think it is a good idea to have the safety built in to prevent trapped fingers/heads/etc. Like all things they have a shelf life I guess, and driver's side will take the most abuse/wear typically.
