Temperature gauge shows really cold engine.

My temperature gauge shows as cold as possible; needle to the far left. The engine, however is clearly warm. When I connect my OBDLink SX and look at it with OBD Auto Doctor from my Mac, the temperature hovers nicely between 85 and 90ºC while driving around the neighborhood. The car has 150k, so I'll probably replace the coolant temperature sensor. Does anyone have any knowledge or ideas on how I might check and if need be fix the IP cluster?

Otherwise the car seems to run just fine.

It makes heat. Like I said, everything seems to be fine except the gauge on the instrument cluster.

I think you are looking for this:

All indicators will light up and the gauges will move from min to max, like in the video below:

This should reveal a faulty gauge.

EDIT: You need VIDA/DICE for this - Volvo's diagnostic tool and software. Other code readers or diagnostic tools almost certainly will not do
