240 Towing Capacity Question

I own a '91 245. I recently bought a pop-up style camper. Fleetwood hi-wall w/dinette slide. It's 3770 GVWR empty and dry. Can anyone offer hitch information or tell me about the weight limit I may pull? Volvo engine is basically sound, has a VX cam and IPD pulley set 7.5' advanced. Trans is solid as well. Not sure of rear gear ratio. Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest getting a Volvo (OEM) hitch.

Wiki says class I up to 2000 lbs and class II up to 3500 lbs. Both are light loads.

Considering vehicle is from Detroit area, where they know how to use road salt...its not a good idea to use a 26 year old unibody vehicle.

I believe this is about the max weight that can be hauled, but it takes an easy foot on both pedals. It's a piece of cake to burn out your old transmission if your radiator/fan have not been renewed.

My 1988 Volvo 760 Turbo wagon has an external transmission cooler from the factory. It is plumbed in with the radiator in-tank cooler. You may want to research how the factory did this and install on your car.

You are going to be over 4000 lbs once you minimally load the trailer, which is a Class 3 rating.

I doubt your vehicle supports this, you need a new vehicle.
