One of the issue of using a non-specialised mechanic on Volvos for repairs like you have had done is they may not know about the challenges the repairs can give. Although less prone, the later 2.5T motors can still block the pipes back into the engine block from the PCV tank. If these are not cleaned out they will just blow the seals out again.
Do you know if he replaced all the PCV system or only parts of it?
The crank and cam seals are important in terms of brands used. Most regulars here will only recommend Corteco or Volvo OE (usually the same parts). May have used other brands and had issues withing a short period of time with them blowing out or leaking.
If you can get the detail info for us we may be able to help you further.

If cam PLUS crank seals continue leaking, might still be something pressure related which to me suggests that the PCV could still have a few components needing cleaning or replacement (to perhaps include the square drain from oil trap to sump) as noted above.
If cam seals only are leaking at this point, might be that the seals were put in too deep. Or could be VVT hubs leaking (see https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-xc9 ... ded-81251/, viewtopic.php?f=10&t=67874, http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... -2005-2-5T for some details). Or could be a combination of both.
Please let us know how this ends up.

I think you are being more than fair. If something is leaking that he previously replaced then he should have a chance to do good and fix it. I know some of the seals can be hard even for experienced Volvo mechanics. When I had them replace my cam seals and crank seals, the front one blew out shortly after. With the angle gear the rear one can be a pain and it blew out twice.
If one of the seals is one he ordered, ask him to fit either a Volvo one or Corteco which ever is easier to get hold of. Corteco is about half the dealer price for same part, but may depend on the time it takes to arrive from FCP.

- If you suspect high crank-case pressure, you can gently lift the oil dipstick a bit so excessive pressure can escape.
- The car is bone-dry now, maybe you lost so much oil now that nothing comes out? Did you check the dipstick?
- The PCV overhaul can be complex: besides replacing the parts you mentioned above, one has to check the return port to the sump.
Also the vent that goes from the oil trap to intake is not included in the kit you mentioned (see photo below).
- Anyway, you need a Volvo specialist.

A leak that comes and goes...hmmmmmm...I'm stumped on that one.
Could it possibly be leaking from the oil filler cap and running down the front of the engine on a slight incline?
