Re: ETM software

Post by precopster »

If you want a quick solution any Volvo dealer can reprogram the replacement ETM to suit your car. Cost may be about $150 Just say you want a reload and don't say to them that this is a replacement ETM as strictly speaking they ONLY reprogram your old ETM or a new one from the factory. Yes high idle can be a symptom of incorrect software for your car.
This can"t be done without Vida/Dice (there is a way to get this done at home but this will take weeks to organise) and I doubt you own this system yet (though you may want to look into it for the future)

As far as ABS issues contact Midwest ABS or go to their website. Matty will repair the ABS controller for very a small cost in comparison to a new ABS controller.

So contacted him and he gave me perfect reference of a guy who is located in USA and can help me transfer software from my old ETM to my replacement ETM. So fingers crossed hope everything works out. Yes if you have weeks to spare and want to fiddle with software installation and already have a windows laptop that's also an option.

You only need the Dice driver installed to Windows and Yagger's special software that allows transfers. You don't need to install Vida which can be a major headache

Hi Doublebug, new here so I can't send you a PM: switched 9186793 65CFM-2 17380.001.08 white tagged Magneti Marelli to a 8644347 65CFM-2 AH.0012381.E with yellow tag, made in 2014. Result: ETS light is now turned off, no limp home, car starts fine, initially runs fine but gradually seems to run worse and worse. Full throttle ok, though. No leaks, I think. ETM cleaned before mounting with new gasket. My car's a MY00 V70 2.4T B5244T LW56 Automatic, donor car's a MY00 V70 2.4 GLT LW61 B5244S Manual. Suspect the ETM needs SW reloaded but local Volvo dealer refuses to help, says "It can't be loaded to that ETM module", question is if they're correct, and if not, how to find a method to reload the ETM SW?

I think they just want you to buy a new one from them. :)
So you need to have DiCE and laptop with internet and DiCE drivers installed on it. That is minimal requirements for remote programming.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

Thanks. And I agree, I think that was just a sales argument. So much for goodwill... So, if I get a DiCe unit, can you help me remotely upload/download appropriate SW? Laptops and operating systems are no problem, have numerous alternatives to choose from.

DiCE requires Windows

You may need to contact Henry (Doublebug) through another contact method such as Skype or Viber so you can talk about when/how to do the transfer once you have the Dice running on Windows.

The software from a B5244S is different from a B5244T
