After a thorough atf flush (using trans vs equipment) my blasted flashing arrow is back! I This car shifts correctly up and down, original code was "torque converter lockup". My indy has failed with his approach which left me wondering what are the various or most common reasons that would create the dreaded flashing arrow?
I will start:
Bad solenoids
Tech mentioned possible bad grounds/electrical
What else???? Thanks! This is a 95 T-5r withe AW 59-42le trans

I have only had a flashing trans arrow once on my current 2000 V70 base auto. This ultimately was the ABS module failing big time and I had a bunch of other lights on too. One that kept coming on was the engine check light, but that was just telling me that there was a general communications error, which was being triggered by the random actions of the failing ABS module. Transmission also worked fine.
Before I bought this car had a solid orange arrow and engine check light and it was a communications error from the TCU. I took it to my local dealer as again the car was working fine, but my Dice unit could not read the TCU. They confirmed the communications error and removed the TCU and cleaned some oxidation on the pins with a Wurth contact cleaner and a cotton bud. The installed and removed the unit a few times to help scrub the pins and then reset the car and so far so good.
Why washing the car helped I can't think what in the car is in the way of water/moisture that this would affect.
Maybe check the main and supplimentary fuse boxes and check any trans related fuses to endure there is not damp in there and the fuses are not oxidised.
Neil.
