Alarm Goes Off When Opening Trunk with Key '98 V70

Been a problem for a while now, but when I unlock and open my rear hatch with the key, the alarm goes off. It's pretty annoying having to unlock the driver door first, then walk back around when it's pouring rain and I have to put a rather heavy car battery in the trunk, a situation I ran into a couple weeks ago.
Is there anything other than the trunk wiring that I should be looking into? I know there's probably an issue with it, since my rear wiper only works when the tailgate is opened, which I discovered after tearing apart all the wiring and putting it all back together since I figured the issue was a bad wiper motor.

Sounds like a check is needed on the wiring harness at the top of the LH hinge is in order. These wires fracture with age and then short out or just stop working. Same issue happens with sedans.

Figured as much. Now I gotta tear it apart AGAIN

Every time I touch it more plastic breaks. I'm so close to just stripping out the interior and making it a full on track car and dailying something else.

If you really want to go hog-wild - remove the interior and have them spray it with bed liner. Now seal everything and turn it into a large rolling aquarium. Now you can make your own DUI/DWI commercials and sell them to local and state governments... Make sure to charge at least $10k, they usually won't even consider a product that costs less =)

Funny, my cousin and I just bed-linered the trunk of his new-to-him $300 Mazda Navajo. I have never seen a $300 car's interior clean up that quick (with the exception of my headache of a V70!).

You will need a sharp razor to open the sheath on the D pillar and find that nasty mess of broken wires
