How do I polish my fogs?

Post by vjaneczko »

I picked up a set of fog lights and they're heavily pitted. I'm guessing the best way to deal with them is to sand them smooth but I don't know what grits to use so I'm looking for suggestions.

If you really want them to look brand new you can do what this guy did.

Updating an old thread here......

I pulled a set of OEM Volvo fogs out of the JY that were pretty badly pitted. So I started wet sanding one to see how far I could get. First, with a Bosch orbital sander, then by hand using w/d and a block. I knew going in that cerium oxide was going to be needed and made efforts to contact a friend who uses this stuff in optics. Then I got busy with other tasks.

However, in the mean time I have procurred some impact-resistant film to protect the glass from rocks. This was a good post to remind me to finish up this polishing project!
