Volvo OEM Amp Install in a 1998 V70
Re: Amplifier - How Volvo adds it
All- I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to build a cable harness from a 4350 4x50 amp to 816HU. I have the DIN cable but need to figure out how to splice into the existing harness. Also where do I get the plastic female connectors for the amp? I have the two different wiring diagrams for radios and amps but can't connect the dots. Any help would be appreciated.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and head to eBay, where you'll find the proper harness to connect your Volvo radio to an aftermarket amp. I believe this is what will do the trick for you:

Why mess around building one? You're in the bay.poboy wrote:All- I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to build a cable harness from a 4350 4x50 amp to 816HU. You live in the center of a wealth of parts Volvos.
All you need is a short chunk of the OEM amp adder
cabling between the car harness, the HU and the amp.
There's one for the behind the radio amps and a longer
version for the OEM amp under the passenger seat.
Hit the junkyards and grab the right one. Done.

I've ordered an active subwoofer https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... /TS-WX120A
that connects with the DIN to RCA with two RCA males. How do I connect the subwoofer to the Volvo DIN to RCA harness? With a split (one RCA male to two RCA female, https://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id= ... 1&format=2) ?
The subwoofer is just one single speaker that I assumed only should use one single signal an not be connected to both right AND left back/front output? I'm Very confused....

Use this adapter.

Look up how your amplifier uses channels with a mono speaker.

Forget about the RCA Wye cable.
The Pioneer sub should have RCA
inputs for both Left and Right and
will take care of that for you.
That IPD link is for the wrong cable.
It allows you to add a 4 channel amp,
but abandons the OEM amp.
I'm assuming that tne OP only wishes
to add a sub. There's another version
that connects between the radio and
the DIN can that breaks out 4 RCA's
for all four corners and retains OEM
amp operation:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-Stereo-Ra ... Cw&vxp=mtr
FYI-The labeling for the radio end DIN
of this eBay offering is incorrect. The
angle DIN is for the HU, not the amp.
Hope this helps!

You assume incorrectly.LOB wrote: ↑02 Oct 2017, 03:00 I've ordered an active subwoofer https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA ... /TS-WX120A

Go ahead and connect both left and right RCA's.
Your Pioneer sub will take care of everything else.
Whether you choose front or rear is not a big deal.
Enjoy your new sub!

Thanks! Dont know if I should have the possibility to retain the OEM amp. Using an SC815 now. Does an amp (OEM or aftermarket) really improve soundquality using the OEM speakers? This active subwoofer might be enough for me. Again thanks!
And.. my thoughts are with you over there (reading the news...).

Sorry - I jumped the gun and assumed that you had a factory amp.
( Doesn't everybody?
It was really early in the AM when I posted...)
If you didn't already have a DIN plug connected to your SC-815,
just carry on with connecting L & R to your new sub and Enjoy!
