I read that it has the 2000 Chevrolet Impala 3800L

As I understand it all 2.9L Volvos use a slightly modified GM 4T65E. Based on my readings the transmissions are not interchangeable, although the majority of the parts are the same.
Do you have a specific issue or question where I can tell you the difference if any? I do have both of the ATSG rebuild manuals, the second updated one lists the specific differences.
