S70 Theft alarm activated

Post by nigiz »

Hello
My s70 1998 theft alarm activated because i locked doors with key fob and key fob stopped working and i opened doors with key. Then theft alarm activated and siren started shouting and car won't start or crank.

I tried other key fob and changed batteries but still dead. How can i reset theft alarm or bypass it? I have spare part car so I can take parts of it like unactivated theft alarm module?

Lock and unlock the drivers' door lock with the key. That is supposed to reset the system. Not sure why it went off when using the key as the door lock should do the same operation.

It is possible but I don't think so. Try removing the battery terminals and touching them together. Then reconnect and try again.

Are you sure someone hasn't tried to break into your car?

yes i'm 100% sure. It was on my yard and I live in place where no one would steal car. I don't have even neighbors and usually i leave keys in lock and doors open.

I tried to take battery off but didnt connect terminals

Eu spec cars have chipped keys and immo system from '96.
His car is '98 and locking & unlocking doors with a key will do nothing in this case.
He will need to bridge the alarm relay, fix the remote or to tow it to a dealer to do fix that.
