1995 855 Gas Cap replacement

I am going to replace my 1995 855 non-turbo gas cap. I just get one from dealer but it is different - a plastic/rubber "string" attached to the cap. My original has no "string" attached and has a plastic "hook" in the bottom of the cap. New one has no "hook" at all. Where should I tide the "string" within the gas cap compartment ?

It is usually tethered to the fuel door on the later models. Find a place to attach with a zip tie.

I bought one of those newer style caps too. I used the upper door hinge screw to attach the tether.
Later on, I found an original hook-style cap in great condition at the junkyard, so I removed the newer style cap and tether and switched back to the old style.

On my V70, the cap attachs to the lid hinge pin. Then I hang the cap on the "tooth" on the lid.

Are the lid screws long enough for the mounting point to be fitted under one? Might make the lid a bit wonky though.

I was worried about that too. When I tried it on the upper hinge screw, it fit fine.

I tried to use lid mounting screw and it was not long enough because the eyelet of plastic string is fairly thick.
