Dove into this job today on a conference call.
Unlike my great P2 junket, todawy in 3 hours, i managed to get the 4 bolts for the upper torque rod removed.
That was it.

Tips from my experience recently:
Mark the hell out of the hub and the cam cover, but you're going to have to check it with the belt anyway.
When you're checking to see if you've got the angle set right, torque the bolt down before strapping the belt on. If you let the hub snap home without that bolt torqued down, it will slide under its own inertia and change its angular position, invalidating your check and driving you insane.
Be wary of the hardware that comes with eBay cam locking tools. I broke one of the included chinesium bolts off in the intake cam with just a little ratcheting wrench, not even wailing on it. (Then I broke a bolt extractor in that.) If, as in my case, the bolt is a little sticky and can't be turned by finger all the way in, go on McMaster and get a decent graded bolt to replace it, as well as maybe a tap to clean the threads in the cam. And once the tool is seated in the cam grooves, it's seated. Don't tighten more than you need to.

Got it down to locking the hubs today. No trace of my timing marks from the timing belt Job in 2013
Couldn't see them in the driveway so stopped short of locking cams today-I guess my parents were right warning me about going blind from excessive polishing long ago.
I'm a bad, bad person...these cams have been growling since December2015

Found another thing to deal with on this job. My 99 hasn't held brake boost vacuum overnight for a while, so I've always had a new booster in mind. I inspected the hose and the check valve tested ok, but on this job, I pulled the hose and found a deep cut in the hose down through the nylon cords. I'll try to locate the chafe point and picture and post

Locked up the hubs and came to a stop when I realize I don't have a T55 bit = but wait - how did I harvest two CVVT hubs of my parts 1999??
Did I do the unthinkable and use a hex to snark off a torx bit.....

What do you need the T55 Torx for? Maybe the cars you pulled parts from used bolts over Torx? Good example it the serpentine tensioner used to have a bolt head to grab to release the belt and that changed to a way less helpful T55? Torx needed.
