Dice not communicating with most modules

Post by S60UT »

I also posted this on swede speed just didnt get any responses. ImageI have a lot of modules not communicating with VIDA. When i hit update sometimes i will lose communication with other modules that were communicating. Test of Dice controller passes.
I have had this problem since i bought the dice a couple of months ago. I just swapped seats from an 02 S60 into my 01 S60. New passenger seat is manual vs old one being power. All connectors matched and plugged fine. I was attempting to reset the SRS service light and was unable to. Only DTC was "cannot communicate with Power Seat module" and "heated seat not working or temp to high" I did have the neg terminal disconnected during seat swap. And did the touch neg cable to pos cable to drain any stored faults in modules but it didn't change a thing. Heated seats dont work either. Power driver seat travel functions do work. I read "to do" and "do not" swap the modules and electronics from my old seats to the new ones. So i really have 2 questions....1. Any tips tricks to for getting the modules to talk to DICE. 2. should i swap the seat electronics hoping to get communication to reset the SRS error and hopefully have seats heating again. Ive researched a lot on this SRS reset and i understand Vida should be able to reset.

You need a P2 expert on this one but my guess is all your modules are looking for your power seat , and not finding it, are whining about that'

It was a lot more fun when seat swaps involved just matching bolts but of all the things to bitch about Volvos , the seats aren't one of them

What does a Fault trace reveal in the last (right) tab?

Also you mentioned you had this problem since you bought the Dice.

Did you have this problem before the seat swap?

Yes i had the problem before i swapped the seat. So last night i swapped over the Power seat module and heated seat control boxes from my old seats to the new ones. I still cannot reset the SRS because the Power seat module wont communicate with Dice. The only thing i have not swapped is the seat belt receptacle. I read these can be different between model years. But i doubt there would be a difference between 01 and 02 MY. Just seems odd to have so many modules not communicating with the CEM. I woulda thought this would make the whole CANBUS system go haywire and it would throw DTC's all over the place. Im not getting any DTC just this seat belt buckle alert and its yellow not red. See attached Fault trace screen.

There were continuous CANBUS changes from 1999-2005 so I wouldn't make assumptions about compatibility until you get an experts advice on your parts

Many changes from 2001 to 2002 . Almost every module had new firmware. Door switches, seats and engine firmware as well as new CEM firmware.

If you had the problem before the seat swap why do you think that the communication issue with all those modules is from the seat swap? Sounds more like a faulty Dice unit to me.

What does fault trace in Delivery tab reveal?

To "Precopster" good call ! it was a faulty Dice reader. Bought a new one off Amazon and all modules are now communicating and i was able to reset the SRS warning. Wierd though, it came with 2 software discs, Vida1 and Vida2. I didnt install either of them as i already had it loaded from my previous purchase. My advice is to buy from Amazon and not ebay, these things are hit and miss being defective and made in China. Amazon has the easiest return policy if you get a defective one.
