Hy everyone,
I have a question.
I have to change the support of the generator, steering pump and air conditionner because I can't fix the serpentine pulley, the one on the top. The last owner seems to have done a sort of pig work and the screw doesn't hold anymore. As i have a aol and good support in stock, I have putted away all the parts named before. All the rights screws also. But the support doesn't want to move , or just a little ;
Do I need a extract tool to realize this extraction, or is it so only because it's dirty ? I've thrown WD 40 all around the support and will see what happen tomorrow.
So, muy question is : special tool to extract or just dust and dirty dust ?

Probably not dirty, it is because you have steel bolts threaded into aluminum. The 2 metals react over the years with heat and moisture to effectively weld them together. WD-40 is a useless penetrating oil. Not sure what products are available in Europe these days, over here we use PB-Blaster or I use Seafoam's Deep Creep.
One thing that may help is to try an impact driver to try to shock the two parts, but yo have to be careful as you can easily strip the threads of the aluminum. You could also try hitting the bolt heads with a hammer to try to do the same thing.
Neil.

Hy Neil,
I do thank you for having responded so quickly. Feeling to not be alone is appreciable ...
I will let the night passing through and see what will happen tomorrow.
Anyway, again, thanks a lot.

Edit : Had a quick look, it doesn't seem to exist here. Maybe on eBay Uk.

There are other brands in Europe of good penetrating oils, but after 17 years in North America I don't know what they are anymore. Maybe someone like Misha or one of our other European members can give suggestions.
Good Luck!

You can make a good penetrant yourself with automatic transmission fluid ( buy the cheapest one you can find) and mix with ( Je crois en Francais) l' acetone, mangalez egalement.

Hy Guys ,
"Big Up" for yours interventions. There's a mark that may be useful, from Berner factory, a process based on a cold fluid stuff. It enters in contact with the "dust" (let says so) and after few minutes becomes solid and break in pieces the " dust ". It is used also when you need to clean injectors wells.
I didn't know the tip with transmission fluid + acetone.
I will see tomorrow if WD 40 has change something. I will tell you.
So then, see you tomorrow.
To end this post, some good news about Robert ?

Manovlov....US market didn't had and don't have Volvos diesels.
Unfortunately,i'm also not familiar with diesels.
I would say that you will have more luck with www.volvoforums.org.uk
They have a plenty of diesels on their forum.

May also try heat such as a propane torch and then shock it with a long extension and a sledge on the bolts you're having an issue with - don't do so excessively. Then try turning them, then let it cool and try, rinse and repeat. Sometimes tightening a bolt ~1/8 of a turn can loosen things up by breaking the bond. Be careful doing so.

To Misha, I thank you for the link. I will subscribe rapidly, and, may as you say, if I didn't succeded in solving my issue, they might be helpful . Have abandoned the way of some french Volvo forums in general, the ambiance for me, is not at the "rendez-vous", as it is here. On MVS, I feel confortable, I learn a lot and try to progress in English , everything is cool to my sens.
To Wizechatmrg, thank you to for your idea. But I'm not not found of using propane torch. I've discovered mechanics with my car, I've done several mistakes which have cost me money and time, but which also made me learn to think before act...
) and how works my car and how repar it, whenever, diesels are different than petrol ones.
I know I won't be the mechanic man of the year, but I'm happy when I reach in fixing issues safely. But, again, I do thank you for the tip.

Whatever method you feel comfortable with is the route you should likely take.
