Hot wiring a glow plug relay
Hot wiring a glow plug relay
This last week the v70 has become hard to start, (getting colder here in Spain!!) Checked the glow plugs, ALL knackered, 5 new ones and still a long turnover, once started ticks over fine, so my wife and I have been looking at the relay, it does appear not to energise, so for the time being can anyone explain about a temporary by-pass (Hot wire) Thanks in advance.
Well , I have taken the air cleaner pipe off the box and stuck a hair dryer in it, 2 minutes and quick start ! I have been told from another forum that the timing is most likely out ! (Not Great !) 120 km to a Volvo garage as it appears that this a No Go for the home mechanic, if anyone has an answer ??
No one knows how to by pass the relay ? A Volvo garage has told me it is the Coolant Temperature Sensor, glow plugs DO operate even for a few seconds !!! On another forum they claim the issue is the injector pump timing, I cannot find a belt to drive the pump it would appear that it is driven direct from a camshaft ? And if so ,how can the timing go out of synch ? Gonna use some WD 40 to start it at the moment until I can find the problem !!
