XC90 Air Con - Variable delays in start-up after Engine 'on'

Help please!

I have had my '09 XC90 since 2015, without any issues but recently the air con has started to behave erratically.

There are variable delays in the air-con working, and these are between a couple of minutes to over 20 minutes, and on some journeys the air con does not work at all.

I live in the Middle East and we have just had summer, so the air con has been working very hard in the build-up to (and during) this issue.

Despite a recent gas-recharge, when the air-con does work, it seems a little less powerful then normal and not quite so cold.

Would really appreciate any advice the community can offer.

Possible culprit might be the compressor solenoid valve if not the compressor itself.
