2005 s40 parking brake cable replacement

Does anyone have experience & advice on how to do a 2005 s40 parking brake cable replacement? I have been told "it's a big job", and was given a quote of $400. Is this doable for a shade tree mechanic? I appreciate your insights. Thanks
