I just purchased a 66 P1800. While changing the oil, I noticed that there was some oil on the transmission, so I pulled the top side plug. I could see one on the bottom right side and another about 6 inches above it - I removed this top one thinking I might need to add a bit of fluid due to the slight leak. When I pulled out this top plug, about 4 ounces quickly drained out. It was fairly clean so I assume that someone changed it and overfilled the trans fluid. The car is level on my hoist. Maybe they got extra fluid in there by having it up on ramps so that oil went further back into the trans. Should I pull this top plug and let the excess drain out or is it ok to leave a little extra in there?
