Testing cabin temp sensor fan motor

I'm not sure if this will apply in your situation, but on my Ohmmeter, when the range setting is lower than the value of the resistance I'm trying to measure, the meter also shows "1" for overload. To get a reading, I increase the range setting (for example, from 200 Ohm range to 1k Ohm or 10k Ohm or higher) until I get a reading. If you're getting "1" on all range settings, then the component may be an open. You have probably already done this, but if not you can verify the meter is OK by touching the probes together to make sure it shows close to zero, and by measuring a known resistance.

Rookie mistake. I thought I had tested resistance on all settings but had to set it to 200k setting to get readings. Then couldn't initially figure out why the readings were all over the place. Then had the 'D'oh' moment, when it finally dawned on me I had brought the sensors in from the (colder) garage to the house, so strangely the sensors were re-calibrating to the higher temp. I've left then for now to acclimatise to the house temp and then test again for consistency of resistance at the same temp to find a working range (hopefully). Then I can try testing at different temps to possibly help an 'in-field' base to test at a junkyard with a basic electrical meter.

At 23C (approx. 73F) All of the cabin temp sensors read between 10.4 and 10.5K ohms, so allowing for inaccuracies of my room thermometers and the cheap meter I'd say they all tested out fine. Not bad, all 9 are in spec and have working fans with similar resistances. So we now have a basic method for field testing and need a simple thermometer to get an ambient temperature.

I'll write up a simple test method later.

Now need to finish testing the remaining 4 fan motors and 2 ECC units.
