Anyone used a Huco branded Voltage regulator for a 98 Volvo S/V70 alternator?

Post by scot850 »

A friend of mine is looking to replace the regulator on his daughters S70 with 460,000km on it. So understandably he does not want to spend a pile n a Bosch one or a rebuilt alternator. He has seen a Huco regulator for a lot less than the Bosch equivalent. Has anyone used this brand and had success with it?

Thanks,

Neil.

Hueco= Hitachi Automotive Systems
They make comparable systems for other OEMs as well as heavy equipment and would have the technical resources to thoroughly/properly reverse engineer the bosch systems.

As far as aftermarket parts go, this would be one of the less risky companies' products to try. If I were penny pinching on a older very high mileage car yes I would probably consider it.

I don't think you got it right as it is a brand from Germany called Huco not Hueco (maybe I am wrong as the link takes you to a site labelled Huco in Germany. I don't have the keyboard to do the German spelling with the 2 dots above the 'U' which perhaps translates to Hueco?). See attached:

Apparently BMW owners like this brand.

Thanks for the input.

I've never bought a Huco but they do come highly recommended. I'd feel good going that route.

A quick look into this. Hueco is a business unit with products sold under the brand name Hüco/Huco. Which is part of Hitachi Automotive Systems Espelkamp based in Germany. HAS is owned by Hitachi Ltd out of Japan which is a global conglomerate.

So yes Hueco is refers to the same company/product you're considering. I see no indication to expect anything other than good quality/proper function.
