Why I hate my 2000 V70R!

Is your S80 an AWD? The AWD cars have a saddle style tank that have to pump fuel from one side to the other.

I've never heard the sender thing, are there any statistics on that?

No Fwd and has just shy of a 22 gallon tank. Maybe it's the sender? But the rare occasion I run it low when it hits the bottom of the red with light on I'll look down and suddenly it's above the red by a hair no ligjt and then over a period of miles like 20 or 30 it is quite a few miles than it goes back down for good. June
