Re: 2000 V70XC - I HATE replacement windshield glass

I have had Safelite damage one car and incorrectly install another. 1st car was my father's 1993 Buick Park Avenue Ultra and the car was equipped with a glare proof windshield. It was a option and looked purple from the outside. They did bring the factory GM glass as no aftermarket was made and I asked for a factory windshield as the car was only a few years old. It leaked all the way across the top the first rain. They came out and peeled the headliner back without removing the pillars or visors damaging the headliner and goo dripped down. I assume he tried to put sealer inside the car. Told me it was fixed and left quickly. When I saw the mess I called and some sort of manager came out and sprayed the car with the hose and it leaked. He then broke the new windshield removing it and threatened to leave the car with no windshield if I did not accept this cheap wavy windshield that did not even have the blue shading at the top made in Mexico. He told me he would not eat the $2,000 factory glare proof windshield he broke. Half hazard cleaned the mess and left. Dad was really upset and traded the car in.

Years later in the early thousands they put a non factory glass in my 1998 V70 when I asked for Volvo glass and was willing to pay the difference as they told me I couldn't have factory glass with my policy. For everyone out there to get factory parts out of the insurance company you must add a oem Ryder to the policy which is cheap. The windshield had a wind noise on the passenger side. I bought a Volvo glass later and had it installed by Lloyds glass in Tampa who did a great job and no more wind noise.

I will never let Safelite touch any car of mine again. You do have to have them come out as they are the glass adjuster for the insurance company. Refuse the work and take the check they write to a reputable glass company and pay the difference for Volvo glass. Volvo Glass Says Volvo and will not have ripples. June

for the 2001 V70 T5, I've had the windshield replaced, but the bottom corner trim is gone and one metal corner clip...

and the trip strip that runs up along the side and back over the car is loose? The little rubber trim along the windshield side crumbled in the process... is it separate from the trim?

What are the missing part numbers and shouldn't I expect them to be covered in the claim? Its a covered repair. I can't afford it to leak or for the trim to flap in the wind etc.

Check VolvoPartsWebStore for part diagrams. Consider buying the parts you need and having them on hand when the windshield installers come. This windshield diagram may work for your car. Browse their body and interior section for another diagram which may have more parts that you need.

Once you find the part numbers, check shops like FCP, IPD, eEuroparts for low prices, or order from VPWS, Tasca, or your dealership for obscure parts. Good luck.
