2005 S60 Manual Climate Control

Post by asummers »

Hello, My daughter's 2005 S60 with the manual climate control is acting up. The fan speed/on/off knob seems loose and the fan runs when it wants to. Fiddling with the knob does not change its speed. Gratefully this week during the cold morning it has ran and been able to defrost the windshield and heat the car. But, this warmer morning it did not seem to run. I am guessing that the knob is made into the circuit board inside the climate module, since there doesn't seem to be a replacement switch available. Is it as simple as going to my local junk yard and getting a similar climate unit, remove the old and plug up the new used one? Thanks, Alan in Knoxville, TN

At the very least disconnect battery and put key in pos ll when connecting again or you could end up with an airbag service warning .
There's always a gotcha even if it's simple.

As above. As for the issue, I would rather try first a new cabin blower unit (used but find one that doesn't show rust in the center of the fan blade and look for one with the controller on it, Ebay has a handful of these). I would then try a used climate unit as the second option.

It might be hard finding manual climate (MCC) parts in PnP , that option wasn't popular here
